The NUS Medical Student Hunnypot
- MCQs, OSCAs, Essays, Vivas, textbooks, and exams -
Pooh's NUS Medical School page for the medical student, especially those in National University of Singapore. It has Gerald Tan's personal comments about Medschool in general and academic topics. There are also links to resource and directories, as well as OSCEs (OSCAs), MCQs, Past Year Exam Essay Questions, Short cases, Long cases and popular viva topics.
Unfortunately, since it has been many many (more than 5!) years since he graduated, most of these, especially the fine details are hopelessly out of date (and quite likely inaccurate!). While the general principles might still hold true, it is best you check with your immediate seniors, tutors, and of course the official sources.
If you have any contributions (no matter how small), suggestions (no matter how stupid), or find any mistakes (no matter how minor), just drop me a note by clicking here!! It's fast, easy, and you'll be helping zillions of medical students who will worship the ground you walk on forever and call you guru! Plus I might even award you my spare tendon tapper!! :-)

    Notes regarding ResearchBooksAsia :
      1) Singapore doctors and nurses enjoy a 8% discount off the retail price.
      2) Free deliver to hospitals, clinics and offices in Singapore.
      3) The outlet at Goldhill Centre has closed (moved to Square 2).

    Others sources
    1) Kinokuniya - Has a surprisingly large collection of "real" medical books (look near the fossil section).
Prices vary widely, so do compare around, but if you're willing to wait for a "20% off" weekend... :-)
    2) Borders - Smaller collection, and targetted more at the laymen.
    3) Seniors - Best! Cheap, tested, and may even come annotated! They won't offer, so you have to ask.
Tip: Try the MO(S) or Registrars who just passed exams.
    4) Online websites (Amazon, etc) - In my personal experience, so-so.
Pros: Can get any book in the world. Shipping may be cheaper if ordering in bulk.
Cons: Can't get cheap "International" or "Asian" Editions. Postage usually kills you. Can take forever to come.
Alternative if you can't find a book here: Get the co-op/yun nan/PG/RBA to bring it in for you.
The opening hours (and even store locations) and info above may change, so check their websites or call before you go down.
Declaration of interest: I am a co-op member (but my dividends are donated ;-) I have no affiliation with the rest of the stores.
